Newcastle band The Longsands have caught the ear of former Eurythmics Guitarist and producer Dave Stewart via the social networking website Twitter.

Stewart, who is now based in LA, was tweeting about his new album release and the possibility of performing a home coming gig at Sunderland Empire later this year. When he Tweeted, ‘Does anyone know any good support bands’? He was showered with messages of support for a local Newcastle act called The Longsands.

Within a few hours Dave Stewart was back online and Tweeted to The Longsands Songwriter and Guitarist Ian Barnes saying, ‘Luv the track Manchester’, referring to a song called ‘An Affair in Manchester about moving away from the North East.

Ian said, ‘it is amazing for us that someone with the credibility of Dave Stewart is listening to our music and tweeting about it’!

‘Dave has worked with some of the biggest artists in the world and his support is very welcome, hopefully we can work together in the future’

‘We have been asked to send all our tracks to his management company in LA’.

With a new single ‘Shut Your Mouth’ out on 4th June and their debut album ‘Meet me in Spanish City hitting stores on 11th June The Longsands are certainly a band to watch out for.
